What is Kickboxing?
At our schools in Livingston (West Lothian) and Uddingston (South Lanarkshire), we proudly teach WKO Kickboxing.
Kickboxing is a striking-based martial art and combat sport that combines elements of boxing and kicking techniques from martial arts. It focuses on using punches, kicks, footwork, and defensive movements.
There are different styles of kickboxing, but most share a few common features:

- Punches like jabs, crosses, hooks, and uppercuts
- Kicks such as front kicks, roundhouse kicks, and side kicks
- Footwork & movement to evade and counter attacks
- Training often includes pad work, bag work, sparring, and conditioning
- Used for self-defense, fitness, competition, or fun

- Kickboxing isn’t one single style—there are different rulesets
- Unlike some traditional martial arts, kickboxing doesn’t usually include throws, joint locks, or ground fighting
